PLAYGROUNDS & SKATE PARK
There are many playgrounds in Westport, one located on the West Road which contains a skate park and outdoor gym equipment, other playgrounds can be found in the town centre beside the Leisure Park and on the Golf Course Road.
Westport’s new state-of-the-art skate park and games area is right beside the Westport Greenway (also known locally as the Railway Line Walk) at the junction of the Louisburgh and Leenane roads.
In addition to the purpose-built skateboarding and rollerblading area, this facility has an astro turf pitch which can be used for basketball, soccer, volleyball, camogie, hurling, gaelic football and rugby.
A brand-new playground has also been built beside the skate park, giving yet another outdoor activity option for the young and young at heart and making this a perfect place for family fun.
The area has ample seating and a car park and is right beside recently extended walking and cycling trail the Westport Greenway. The Greenway route is a dedicated off-road trail running from Westport town centre to the Quay and connects with cycle routes to Murrisk and Croagh Patrick.
Please note that skaters skate at their own risk.
